Dear American Members of The Western Front Association,
Last month I was fortunate to attend the International Centennial Conference at the National World War I Museum in Kansas City to represent The Western Front Association. This gathering was attended by some 120 individuals from across the United States as well as Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand for three days of networking, presentations and panel discussions on plans and preparations for the upcoming centenary of The Great War. This is an exciting time for the study and remembrance of World War 1 and I will be pleased to give a report on the various plans and programs presented at this Conference during the upcoming Spring 2013 Symposium in World War I History.
So far we have had quite a few registrations and I am looking forward to seeing many of you in Baltimore on Saturday 1 June. For the convenience of anyone who would like to register for the Symposium but hasn’t done so yet, I am attaching the announcement flyer and registration form.
Among the exciting developments related to the coming centenary of WW1 is a WFA initiative here in the United States called The World War 1 Centennial Network. This project is a cooperative alliance of American organizations, museums and historic sites related to the First World War for the purposes of cross-promoting our various WW1 programs, as well as boosting public interest in centenary of The Great War. WFA East Coast is the founding organization behind this project and the development of the collective website for the Network has been funded by the WFA in keeping with its core mission of furthering public interest in the period 1914-1918. Please feel free to visit the World War 1 Centennial Network here: http://www.ww1-centennial.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
We will have lots of exciting developments to discuss, as well as a terrific battery of speakers, door prizes, displays, an out-of-print WW1 book sale, and much more at the upcoming Symposium in Baltimore - I look forward to see you there !
All the best,
Paul
