Arizona Military Museum

Last week I was in Arizona. My wife and I are considering a move, but Phoenix is out because of her dysfunctional family. Neither of us can deal with them, so the search for a new city to live in continues. But I did get a chance to finally visit the Arizona Military Museum. What a wonderful little museum! Here are some photos:

A uniform from the Indian-Wars and Spanish-American War. This is the dress blues, as opposed to the summer whites.

A Colt-Browning M1895 Machine Gun, also known as the "Potato Digger." This was from the Spanish-American War. I had heard that Mr. Tiffany, owner of Tiffany's Jewelry Store in New York City, bought two for his son, who served with Teddy Roosevelt in the Rough Riders.

Sorry that the picture isn't better, but I didn't have my good camera. This is a Mexican Pickelhaube:

And here is one for Gus, his favorite gun from WWI... the infamous Chauchat

Some other long guns from World War I, note the notorious "Trench Gun!"

Gus, it is certainly worth the trip. The only downside is that the museum is only open on Saturday and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm. Enough time to see everything, but makes for a small window.
