Guys: Does anyone have information on the altered WW 1 Artillery Sabers. According to Pietsch, they shortened the blades circa 1910-14, and eliminated the lower ring on the scabbard. This one, which I will post pix of, is not Prusssian pattern, looks like Saxon, but is proofed for Wilhelm, and not Friedrich August.

I encounter these short sabers often at the local gun shows, along with French Issue sabers, and quite a few bayonets...The locals are hot for Jap Guns and Bayonets, and anything "Nazizeit", but WW 1 is often ignored here. (Birmingham Al)

hi Dale:
I know nothing of arty sabres but someone here will. The fact that the "locals" generally ignore WW1 may provide you with some excellent opportunities for deals on Imperial stuff. Good hunting! Brian
