Is anyone going to be at this auction in Paris on Saturday:

You mean Soissons....about 100 Kilometers NE of Paris?
:-? I Wish I could....

Have you noticed the Number 56 in their catalogue? Have you seen the detailed pictures? Love that one!!!

Number One in this catalogue: discribed as a helmet that belonged to the Kaiser...With the ticket that says:"Quittungs-Verzeichnis"-"An den Garderobe-Intendant.....???...Haus Doorn. Wilhelm II came to live in Huis Doorn/Holland...15th May 1920!!!...What does this mean? That the delivery never arrived in Holland....????.
I think to recognize the special elastic ribbon on the chinscale halves...His headgear had this special type of chinstraps. So he could close the chinstraps of his headgear with one hand. (his good right hand). J-L Larcade volume II-Chapter 11 on his Headgear at Huis Doorn in Holland discribes this chinstraps!!!

I was WAY outbid. The items went for truly crazy money. The one item I wanted sold for more than twice what I bid.

They had some VERY nice rare Adrian helmets that had the splatter shields over the face. They went for double the estimated and then some

I saw those and I know several collectors who watched and bid. No one I know won anything. A lot of stuff went for far above estimate.

So now my hunt for the French conical hat worn by the Tirailleurs Indochinois continues. I will pay TOP dollar for one if anyone knows where I can find one!

I'll guess here in a few days....;

The price realized for No. 1 (without premium) was Euro 7.500,-
On the pictures the helmet looked nice, but the monogram in red was badly embroidered. No job for the Kaiser…
And what about the strange abbreviation W.H.2. on the case? Maybe “Wil Helm 2” or “Wehrmacht Heer 2“…?

No. 56 was sold for Euro 2.500,-

Happy collecting

Yes, thank you for the info. Tricky one this number 1....the embroidery...pfff...an order to be delivered to Huis/house Doorn in 1920???
***But...I liked the Ku Nr 2 (Nr 56). You have to hold it in your hands of course...
I like the liner-double string!

Is anyone planning to go to Part 8 tomorrow ?

An auction house I have had no experience of but do enjoy looking at their sales. I would really like to be there to try to buy either of the 93.R. pickelhaubes.
