Auction lot - Two wappen and…?

This evening I won a lot described as “Hat badges, etc.” in a local auction. As you’ll see, it included two Prussian infantry / artillery wappen, plus a third mystery item. Now, I’m pretty sure this triangular-shaped third item is unrelated to the wappen, and has nothing to do with pickelhauben, but I’m still fairly new to this field of collecting and just wanted to be sure. So, is it anything?

No that triangular bit has nothing to do with pickelhauben. The grey steel M15 wappen is a good piece but obviously the brass bird is missing the orb and has solder repairs, so not so good.

Thank you for your reply. This lot cost $30 so, while it would have been nice if the brass bird was complete and undamaged and the triangular thingy military-related, I’m happy just to have the grey one.

Thirty $ for a nice M15 wappen is cheap at today’s prices, so you did well. You could probably resell it here for $75. Be sure to keep the brass chicken as guys like me are looking to harvest the wire loops off the back.

Great, thanks. I’m still learning the values of things and am glad I didn’t overpay. As for the brass bird, I was thinking somebody might use it for parts but I was thinking of the head or a leg, something like that. Never thought of the loops!
