I originally posted this photo back in April, which highlights a Baden Sturmmann wearing his feldgrau M1860 tschako with Baden wappen. His collar dogs identify him as a member of the 56th Infantry Brigade. (Circa August 1914 - April 1915). The photographer has added his name to the negative: Dittmat Argemund. This soldier is armed with the typical for Landsturm Gewehr 88 with an S1871 bayonet fixed to the rifle.
Recently I have come across a second photo of Landsturm men also of the 56th Infantry Brigade, and some who wear feldgrau tschakos as in the first photo. The photo is by the same photographer. In this photo there are two men who wear M60 feldgrau tschakos with Baden wappen, two with Landwehr wappen. All four appear to have been painted feldgrau along with the wappen. The wall in the background appears to be the same in both photos.
In the front standing row of men second from left is the same fellow that is in the first photo, only in this pic he is wearing a pork pie hat with Baden Landes cockade. ( Note the lethal flute at left).
Here's a look at some of the other tschakos in the second photo:
A M60 with Baden wappen, minus the feldzeichen as in the first photo.
And one of two men who had feldgrau M60 tschakos with a feldgrau painted Landwehr Kreuz w/ backing shield, it too is minus the feldzeichen.
