Baden helmet with cruciform base, round visor

The neckguard looks like it might've once had a metal edging.
Was this perhaps a fireman's helmet a while back?
 
and if you look at the front arm of the cruciform it has a shorter reach. abd a different shape. I'm sure this is 1925 shape. this and the rear trim seen on fire helmets.

Perhaps, or a beamte of some sort. Did you notice the odd looking linter? At any rate, we can probably be sure that this helmet was converted for one reason or other.

Did they have the normal line Wappen, or would that be a replacement? IF the rear trim was removed to make it look more 'military', then that was a somewhat stupid thing to do.. not that it was actually done that way.
