Baden Inf. EM M1915 Pickelhaube

Hello all,
Another classic wartime helmet with one of the nicest wappens in my opinion (after the Prussian Guard Eagle).
This one is a very small size (53) yet in great shape, made by 'J.M. Eckart Ulm am Donau' and dated 1916.
Here are the seller's pics for now:

Size 53!!! Almost could be a Kinder helmet. Great condition liner and great condition helmet too! Its interesting to see how close the back visor and front visor are almost a inch away from touching each other underneath the Kokarde.

Hey Chris,
There once was a similar Baden War Bond Helmet listed on eBay size 52.5!
I was under the impression 53 was the smallest until I saw that one.

A really great condition helmet, Ron, congratulations! =D>

You've been a "busy shopper" lately, picking up some very nice pieces! :)

As a side note: The jaeger shako I aquired & posted recently in the lot from the Minnesota Military Show is a size 52. I didn't know that they made them that small either!

All the Best,

Alan

Guys, many thanks for your comments. I think I can officially say I've caught the Haube virus. Everytime one comes in, I feel the urge for another but as you see, I'm trying to stick to my wish list which is comprised of wartime era items only.

Hey Allan, 52 must be quite tiny! No wonder many of these small & extra small sizes were captured unworn/unissued... And speaking of the Minnesota Show, anytime you wanna sell that Kürassier Metalhelm you came upon, drop me a pm as it's Nr. 1 on my list!

Hi Ron, that's not only a virus anymore... You've reached the addiction level already!
Another excellent haube!

Hey Karel,
I've started putting post-it notes on the room doors at home to reserve extra space for more stuff to come

Turns out the wappen and the helmet's overall condition are even nicer than I thought despite the tiny size.

God bless the guy(s) who came-up with the idea of giving these helmets out as incentives to buy U.S. War Bonds! Same as the Theatrical Companies, they contributed to preserving such fragile artifacts for generations to come...

A note regarding the chinstrap as per the seller's description: This is an "original Ersatz pattern, secured behind the buckles with a single rivet vice stitches".

Ron can you please repost your chin strap pics from this helmet into the chin strap thread? I do not believe we have pics of a riveted example there.

Very nice! I've a Baden M15 that is super on the outside and all messed up inside (saddle soap, Neatsfoot oil, zombie barf??? Who knows), but yours is sweet.

:D Ron

M1915 helmets are cool as they reflect a mayor transit from old warfare and traditions to the modern war.

Yours looks a very nice example an still on my wish list.

Best regards,
Michel
