Has anyone ever seen one of these without a fluted spike? is this possible with a Bavarian helmet? I know that with a fluted spike it could be a Dragoon or Schwere Reiter helmet but also from what i understand it could be a pre-1916 Artillery helmet. I also know that the linings in these helmets were usually black and this one isn't. Just trying to identify this one.
 
Is it possible that the Bavarian plate and cockade are simply not native to this helmet? That would explain why the second loop is missing (it did not match the distance between the holes).
 
Does this mean I have to up the insurance on my Bavarian M15 like this? Hmmm... mine has the fluted spike, crossbase, sqared visor, etc.. and is in very nice condition.
