Bavarian Haube

This helmet is ok and it contains a very nice mark of Estelmann Strassburg, an established haube manufacturer. The latter is a good indication of its authenticity. The missing parts can be obtained via ebay, bit this might take a while.

Edwin

What's also nice about this helmet is the wartime date (1915) which makes it one of the last M1895s before the switch during the same year to the M1915s... Too bad for that liner though!

Aside from missing its trim, the front visor has been restitched at some time at the wrong angle. I don't know what that indicates for certain, but this may display well and look okay with the front trim restored to the helmet. It does have some nice markings and once on the shelf, nobody will notice the liner (which may have been missing even when the Tommy picked it up.. ) If I were looking for a bargain, I'd keep an eye on this, if I were looking for a REALLY good helmet, I'd let it pass. Oh, it's also easy to straighten that spike base with a rawhide mallet and some care. :)
