I found a reference on „Wiki“: It was Part of the 2nd royal bavarian Division, which got a new setup for War on 22nd of March in 1918:
Kriegsgliederung vom 22. März 1918 Bearbeiten
4. Infanterie-Brigade
12. Infanterie-Regiment „Prinz Arnulf“
15. Infanterie-Regiment „König Friedrich August von Sachsen“
20. Infanterie-Regiment „Prinz Franz“
Bayerische MG-Scharfschützen-Abteilung Nr. 2
3. Eskadron/8. Chevaulegers-Regiment
Bayerischer Artillerie-Kommandeur Nr. 2
9. Feldartillerie-Regiment
Bayerisches Pionier-Bataillon 7
Bayerischer Divisions-Nachrichtenkommandeur Nr. 2

Unfortunately I found nothing further, if it was new formed or already existed.

It is always difficult to find some informations with small units in Pionnier or Fussartillerie.

You could check in this Buch : Paul Heinrici: Das Ehrenbuch der Deutschen Pioniere, Verlag Tradition Wilhelm Kolk, Berlin um 1930

Unfortunately I do not have it.

Steve,

As ordered in January 1917, all divisions were to have an establishment of two pioneer companies under a battalion staff. The result of this with regards to the Bavarian army was the amalgamation of exant pioneer companies into Bavarian Pionier-Bataillone 1 - 26.

Glenn

Francis ;
4 was correct for the pre-war years 1912 -1914
Bavarian Pioneer Batl. 7 had to be formed after that
I just got in an officers shoulder strap for Bav. P B 7
It is a "Friedensrock " strap for the so called peace-time uniform
That didn't happen as Germany lost the war .
However some of the Friedensrock uniforms were made .
