This dealer is touchy about questions. They have sold item's that have been repro before without any care.

Brad what makes you think it is a repro? What strikes you as "odd" Brian

The front looks nice, but the back has a copper color to it--like an electroformed or "galvano" plate. It also seems to have some light colored splotches on the back.
I wish I could see it up close.

I have several originals that have kept the gilded finish on the reverse, but the front sides have lost the fire gilt to over-zealous polishing years ago.
The one on eBay seems to be reversed in condition: shiny front, dull back. Maybe it's just my imagination.

Although the pictures are bad, I think this plate is original. It would be an early type before 1900.

But the picture of the reverse is really not enough precise to determine if it is agalvano or not.

Then, because it is a common plate and because thos one is not very nice, stay away!
