Bavarian wappen

Hello, I am considering this bavarian wappen. Most of the ones I've seen had the reserve cross applied and this one is kind of pressed in. I wonder what it depended on the regiment, function, although it seems to me most likely that it is about the manufacturer. If anyone has more information on this please comment.

Hello Johny and welcome to the forum.
As you mentioned, this is a beautiful reserve or Landwehr officer Wappen (worn from 1886 to 1914), that was intended to be such a Wappen from it's inception. Normally, soldiers served in an active unit and then transferred to the passive service, so the Landwehr Cross was placed on top of the existing Wappen. In your case, however, the Wappen was specially embossed for passive service. Most likely the owner bought a new helmet for his reserve or Landwehr service.
