Aside from the ball on a pre-war helmet, doesn't the spine seem a bit odd?

Didn't they incorporate the Kugel after a certain date? I don't know what the date is off hand.

Odd looking helmet. The top is so flat that it looks like it was made for a cruciform spike base. That spine has flattened due to the shrinkage of the shell. I have seen this before. The shell shrinks pulling the spine flat until eventually the prong breaks away from the solder. We see shrinkage also in how the rear visor has curled under.
