Hi All,
Just thought I'd post some pictures of my latest find,and at the same time ask for ideas/advice on preserving/conserving the leather holster.And maybe some info on maker/year the holster is stamped H.R but markings on beilpicke head are worn and shallow stamped(has been in regular use it would seem).

As you can see the leather is worn thin and is crazed/dry on locking flap(not sure if this is correct term) and belt loops.

These are the best shots I'm able to get of the stamps on the holster and head(head to the left pick to the right.

Hey Eric,
It is ironic that most 100 year old leather items that are in bad condition have suffered from some type of treatment to "preserve" it. Proper storage is much more important that any treatment. Most of the leather treatments on the market are to make leather more supple or water proof, but bear in mind that these treatments are to make the leather serve a purpose, and the item will be thrown away after it has served its purpose. The most important think is to never apply any type of oil to leather you wish to preserve. Waxes, are good, as they help seal the leather to keep it rom drying or getting wet, but that can change the appearance.

Hi Gus,
thank you for your advice,might look into a neutral wax to apply(small test area)but will avoid oil.The leather is dry and brittle in places so I am keeping it away from heat and light.
