Best camera & software for online photography

Greetings All

A technical question for all of you much wiser and talented than I. What would be a good brand of camera/software for the taking of photos to place them on this forum? Something relatively idiot proof and that won't break the bank. Thanks in advance for your help.

There are many, many good cameras to choose from. You do not
have to have the latest super high mega-pixel camera to take good
close-up shots. You just need to make sure that you choose one with
a "Macro" setting. I use an old Nikon coolpix with good results and my wife has an even older Canon powershot that gives just as good results.
Either one could be found in the $150 range.

As for photo editing software. If you have bought a printer or scanner
within the last 5 years or so, it probably came with some form of photo
editing software as part of the package.

The best tips for good pictures. Use a tripod. Use the self timer.
Practice, Practice, Practice-----have fun.

Hi Greg

Thanks very much for the reply, I guess I presumed there was some magic in it, dinosaur that I am.

Merry Christmas

Larry, to add to what Greg said, it is more 'how' you take the photo, than the camera. A photo taken against a suitable backdrop, with good lighting, will be far better than a helmet sitting on your bed or couch with all the detail blown away by the flash. Have a look at THIS thread for some tips. Please note that I no longer place my helmets on a stand, but now use a piece of blue/grey card stock that the helmet sits on. But even at -30, I still take my photos outside.
