Sweet helmet, I would buy it in a heart beat if I had the coin. Unusual combo though with everything officer except no pearl ring on the spike neck. There is an explanation for this though. B

It could clean up pretty well. Am I correct in assessing that heat did the damage to the front visor? ... causing the lacquer to run?

Really Brian? To me, this is a beater and I would not have that in my collection. It would stick out as a beater in your collection too. Yea, the Wappen is brilliant, but the helmet is a condition III to me.

Well T...you know how I like to fix these babies up. Guess I got carried away, I have always wanted one of these. I dont see anything that I couldn't improve upon 100%. Even a couple of coats of black shoe polish would liven this puppy up considerably. Some people even have spare original officer silk liners although, I do hate stitching them in! Yes, the shellac on this has run with heat. Probably was stored in somebody's attic. Finally, don't get the impression guys that my collection is filled with pieces that have been worked on. Chas and Tony can testify that this is not the case. I got into restoration to help out other collectors and earn some cash to feed my addiction. I have on occaision purchased helmets that needed work so that I could flip them on ebay and make some coin. However, I always tell people what has been done. B
