The wife is Amy Bellars who used to collect. She bought a couple of helmets from me including my Bavarian Officer with spike and white trichter. I think she got my Prussian general as well (Sigh!) This was during the marriage melt down when I had to sell things! Extremely poor photos. Tony and I were talking about Ebay's "customs included" listings. Neither one of us will bid on anything with that feature. IMO Ebay is screwing itself by starting this!

She bought a couple of enlisted wartime helmets from me back in 2006/2007.
I sent Rod an email, and he replied promptly. Sounds like they have about 150 helmets to sell off.
Yes, the eBay added customs is a real pain. I opted out of it right away after they initiated it, and ship my own items as well, when I sell things on fleabay.

Well it’s a good thing you guys know the history of this seller, otherwise this would all be very confusing and with the no guaranty and the high shipping even suspicious.
Absolutely right about the “eBay added customs” Brian and Alan,
I understand customs on new products to protect the home economy, but antiques and collectibles from a private seller ? common!

I don't know if it's still true, but there used to be no customs charges on antique items coming into the US. No doubt the government changed this to get more money from us.

Apparently Rod's wife Amy has 800 more helmets in Singapore!!! I've never heard of a collection that large. Amazing.
Here's a copy of the email reply he sent to me after I wrote him:

well i am selling the helmets for Amy to retire a incoming tax debt, she is only selling 150 that are here she still has over 800 in Singapore plus ones i gave her here , i have put prices they should get here in good times . But its not good times and one has to take into account Alan when they are shipped and land here they are subject to customs tax etc and we bought a lot on down dollar which seems to be repeating itself again now under our current clowns in power and economic times .Yes looks like we will have worst economic year in our living history here and sure rest of world is simular and i expect us all to head into depression as these band aid fixes around the world only forestall the inevitable and lengthen the time we are in it . I was in usa for my museum client in cairns late last year for littlefields sell up and won two tanks he paid over 1.1m for 10 years ago for 105k made my client very happy to pay my commission we ended up with 12 tanks that arrive in cairns soon . i have talked amy out of just dumping them and selling them as people want them as many are super items and very little good material is on market that one i listed is a local pick up and interested to see what people think of badge as i don't have enough experience they have cleaned front but here is back shot
it is taking a lot of my time with tyre kickers galore and armchair experts so want to limit amount of adds as i am very busy with my projects as well next will be advertising in europe
think there are two m15 hessian one i gave her i think, and one from usa maybe we are asking around 1800aud each to get usa figure you would have to times by .78 approx
well send joe our regards amy has had a few health issues and sold her main business that upset her but was time to go and she is moving onto other things and working at improving her health i am flat out with my consulting acquiring items for a a large museum that recently opened in cairns as well as restoring a rare early model lee tank i have acquired one of few in word

Last time I bought a haube overseas the customs fee constituted 20% of the price
Therefore, I prefer to buy militaria inside the EU nowadays to prevent the ridiculously high customs fee.Regards,

An early member of this forum. Amy was extremely nice but was turned away by some unfortunate nastiness. She was very sharing when it came to pictures. May the sun shine on her endeavors.

That's unfortunate to learn of Joe. She sounded like a knowledgeable collector from the emails I had with her on eBay.
I had nice email exchanges with her when she bought the first helmet from me. Same with the later purchased 2nd helmet, up until after I had mailed the 2nd helmet to her, when Indonesian Customs apparently held it up from being released for delivery to her for quite some time. She accused me of not mailing it, even when I provided the proof of mailing it to her. I personally felt that she got pretty nasty towards me with her accusations of not mailing it to her.
There are probably some very nice pieces in the collection, and I've been sent some distant vague photo shot overview images that don't do much justice to what they have. But with the unrealistic high prices they are asking for what I had inquired about, I can say that I won't be a buyer. (Yes, they're very nice people.) Rod talks about the depressed economy in his email, and cites the bargain price they purchased a tank(s) for, but I don't think they realize that many of these helmets have dropped 25% and more in value since they have purchased them. Try them on eBay, they just won't get the same prices today as what they may have paid for many of them 7 years ago or more.
