There always has been a Brazil, even before Pangea broke up. But the country has about the same history as the United States of America, Colonized in the late 1400s and with boundaries firmed up in the mid 1800s.

According to the Flags of the World website, this is the flag of the Brazilian Republic 1889-1960.
