Always a pleasure to see an HR17 Schirmmütze Jan. Very nice original zinc ‘narrow eyes’ Totenkopf with just a hint of the silver wash left. It amazes me how many Braunschweig caps I see that have fake Totenkopf on them. Almost certainly and unfortunately due to the originals being removed by families due to the confusion between Imperial and Wehrmacht Army patterns, and the outlawed 1936 SS versions.

I Think they also have been removed for other kinds of memory. I have that awesome picture, where the Totenkopf was placed on the frame.
But I still have to explain myself for collecting brunswick. Even today the people first think about the Waffen-SS, when thes see a skull on a Uniform or headgear.
