Can you see what's special about these two M95 Prussians?

At first sight there's nothing special about these at all... but you have to look harder:tongue: ...
In fact these are very hard to find, but once you know what to look for, it becomes obvious and you'll be able to find one of these rare birds. For now I can only show this one picture, but be patient... the rest will follow.

They should be in my collection????? :wink: Ahm... they're the minimum and maximum head sizes? Seriously, no idea. More hints?

I know it's very hard to see in this one picture, but they are actually very rare fiber board (Papier maché) helmets.
When looking very closely, you can see there's actually no deformation and the trained eye can also see the different structure of the vulcan fiber front visor and the fiber board body. The neck guard is also made in vulcan fiber (not visible in the picture).
You can also notice in the following pictures that the liner is made of ultra thin artificial leather (don't know the exact English word) and that the liner cord is very flimsy. The chinstraps are also extra thin.
The helmet body is made of composed fiber (chopped cart board mixed with glue) and because of that it looks this lumpy instead of smooth like a normal liner usually is...
The ersatz of the ersatz one would think, but in fact these helmets are much better and more comfortable than their leather brothers... They are much lighter, keep their shape much better, are more water resistant and seem more resistant against time and the elements...

PS Both helmets have 5 holes in the spike's neck and they, but that's nothing special I would say... They are different sizes, but their are no stamps or marks visible on the entire helmets...

This is very hard to see when a good layer of lacquer is applied Karel .
This M 15 Wurttemberg is made of fur felt and shellac coated.

Very nice Ed! I'm looking for one of these for ages and had no luck finding one for now. Guess I'll have to look even better :-k ...

Excellent Adler as always. I have never encountered one of these card board helmets in all my years of collecting. I have worked on M 15's with card board visors stitched on a leather shell. I did actually examine a papier mache M 15 helme in my earlier years of collecting. Imagine going to war in a paper hat!
 
This helmet is made of chopped cardboard with a mixture of glue
Not an easy one to find and it even has the same strange detail beeing that the counterdisk for the spike is on the outside rather than beeing on the inside where it belongs to keep the spike in place and provide it from beeing torn out
have seen a handfull helmets with this funny detail ,but still no clue what happend here

Very nice helmet and yours is even marked to a regiment that makes it even better
