Cavalry with arty ball

Got this cavalley helmet yesterday. The aging matches well but one thing that puzzles me. Can cavalry helmet has an artillery ball on it?

Regards

A Baden artillery helmet should have a round ball base. Looks like the griffin is not crowned. Could this be a fireman officer helmet?

In addition, the motto is not what it should be on a military helmet (Mit Gott fur Fuerst und Vaterland).

That is something that I have missed. I guess it explains why cavalry and yet artillery ball. Thanks guys

Hi Amy,

This last helmet that you have posted directly above my reply here is a Bavarian Fireman's (Feurwehr) Officer's helmet.

Best Regards,

Alan

Thanks Alan. Yap its a Bavarian fireman. Very solid helmet body and it is a shame to wreck it for parts so decided to keep it. It is my one and only fireman helmet besides the baden one which had just come in. (the baden one will be for parts) I have a baden cavalry missing the front visor and it is always good to have spare chinscales. The prices of parts has gone silly and many a times, I find parts but got outbidded easily cos I am not willing to pay top dollars for them.

Amy, I forgot to mention that your Bavarian fireman's helmet is a great looking helmet in excellent condition. Congratulations!

The photo is excellent as well, and probably very rare to find an image like this. Congratulations on being the current owner of it, and Thanks to Joe for posting it!

Best Regards,

Alan

Hi Alan
Thanks for the post. That Bavarian baby is good looking. I usually only buy military pickelhaubes but that one caught my eyes. Something like love at first sight. Lol

Regards
Amy
