Hi everyone. I have come here hoping to get some help solving a couple family mysteries. I am first generation American – father British, mother German. They came to the US in the 1950s. I have my father’s side of the family pretty well researched, thanks to help from several other forums (fora?).
Recently, I came into possession of several family artifacts which I have been trying to research: some Prussian military portraits and documents from the mid 19th century up to the Great War (at least that’s what they appear to be). My mother’s side of the family is primarily from Brandenburg and Silesia. The artifacts came from her brother who had remained in Germany.
After several Google searches, I stumbled upon this forum. It seemed to be the place to come for answers, since I also noticed that several of the members hosted other websites with quite a bit of good information regarding the German Imperial Army.
