Childs Curassier helmet.

I picked this up today, it needs some help in regards the missing plume element.
In the 1970s 80s I had a large (for Canada) collection of Imperial German helmets and some field
uniforms and lots of equipment. So I am well versed in the subject. I never came across
a childs version before however. Some help or suggestions to restore this would be appreciated.
Sincerely; G.S.

Hello,
I have a child's helmet, and I've already had the opportunity to hold a few in my hand. There's nothing regulation about them, the trim looks more or less like that of the army but isn't really faithful to it. You are free to attach a spike or a Busch of your choice, as long as it looks like the ‘adult’ one. I'd adapt a brass Prussian infantryman's point, or better still, a Dragon's point, as the chimney seems to resemble it.
My artillery toy has a brass sheet chinstrap stamped on cardboard, painted cardboard roundels etc...The crest ball looks like an artilleryman's, but is not.

Kinder helmets are very cool IMO and I have several in my collection.

They are unique in that they come in all kinds of materials, such as Carboard, Paper Mache, metal and leather to mention a few. Often a mixture of real and less quality parts.

Here are a few of mine...

Thanks, that's a great image ! It might be esier to make a plume than to figure out a spike top-
It could go either way. My chinscales look not unlike what is in the image, though could be
and likley are real ones replacing something that broke. It came with the remenents of a
plume which looks ancient and pretty much done in. That it survived what ever beatings it
has taken over time at all is almost amazing in itself.

Very cool kid’s outfits; it is amazing that they survived the Second World War. Thanks for posting the pictures from the past.
Best regards
John
