I would like to introduce you to the repair of parts obtained from the ground, unfortunately it does not look good, but always original. Parts obtained in Poland and from battles between the German Empire and Tsarist Russia. I also added found bayonets from the first and second wars.

Naprawiacz,
Are those before and after shots of the enlisted/other ranks chinscales? :-k They look great! =D> :thumb up: Are the parts mostly brass?
Best regards,
John

Yes you are right John, all parts are brass.Unfortunately there is almost nothing left of iron after a hundred years in the ground.Still from the sand you can get a fairly decent condition. You have to work hard to get any effect.Unfortunately the brass is pitting. The parts shown in the pictures are before and after the repair.I am sending additional pictures so you can see what condition of the item I am repairing. It is not beautiful, but saved from destruction.Regards Wojtek.

Wojtek,
Thank for the detailed pictures. I see what you mean about the pitting of the brass. However, they are all original pieces, and with the attention you gave them. They all look excellent when considering that they have been in the ground for 100 plus years and made even earlier.
One question, do you use an original pickelhaube for the rebuild or a reproduction helmet?
Best regards,
John

I have never had a copy in my hand, but from what I can see it is very poor material.I bring in disassembled originals from France and Germany for $50-80 and restore them.I love these repairs! I am sending some before and after repair condition pictures.Thank you John for your feedback.
