This is recently arrived. The liner as well as the perimeter trim are oilcloth.

Wow! Superb example. Is that a green felt I see on the interior??

That's something I have not seen from this manufacturer.

Typical stunning photos as usual.

Hi Tony:

It's a very striking shade of emerald and appears to be a surface coating (a sealer perhaps). A glimpse behind the liner reveals a bit more.

Hi Tony:

I made a quick survey, and this is the only issued helmet in my collection with an Ersatz liner. However, I do have a Württemberg wartime Diensthelm with an oilcloth sweatband. The same material appears in a lot of Schirmmützen.

Comfort would not be the word to describe it.

Congrats Chas, a beautiful example. I have one oil cloth liner Prussian filz helme in my collection. Like yours, it has brass fittings. I think that I showed it to you when you were here for a visit. Brian

How is the field badge mounted inside the Ersatz Filz Telegraphen Tschako?

My collection is packed away as I am in the middle of a divorce. I might be moving, I have no idea. Can't help you for quite a while I am afraid.

Sorry to hear of your situation.
