In 2015, I was looking at photos someone posted of the SOS and there was what appeared to be a very nice issued Bayern (Bavarian) M95 in Neusilber fittings at a table. I have been after one of these for a very long time, as you just never see them. I texted Brian L. to try and find it, and he replied within seconds that he was sitting at that exact table, and it belonged to Jerry Rehr! Seriously, what are the chances? :tard:
Brian called me and described it as appearing to be all original and untouched. Jerry knows me and was happy to give it to Brian to bring back to Canada, and I mailed Jerry the money. No problem. Thank you both very much.
Its a beautiful helmet with a very pleasing patina to the fittings, and what's most important, is that the chinstrap in Neusilber fittings is there and original. I could care less that it broke in the middle and was sewn together at some point. If that helmet was missing the strap I would not have looked twice. Buying a helmet in Neusilber missing the M91 strap thinking one can be found, is what we call a "Fool's errand" which means its impossible. Never going to happen. And the original Bayern stamped M91 Kokarde. So this was a perfect example for me.
