Considering the need for firewood in the trenches, the larger transit boxes are difficult to find each therefore 1000 rounds, 250 rd ammo boxes.

How many years did it take to build this collection?

Sir about 15 years. My original weakness was all things British MG but as some may have experienced a divorce tends to target collections :>)
So I switched to German WWI ground MGs.

These are some of the standard patterns. Note the difference in ZF12 base slide rails. The early pattern was much thinner and of course not 'soldier proof' so the pattern was changed.
