Cork Pickelhaube

I have never seen a real one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ww1-German-prussian-cork-pickelhaube-rare-/122312609603?hash=item1c7a664f43:g:dIsAAOSwo4pYe-E3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is there any chance that this is original?

He has two of them listed --- what are the chances of that???

John :???:

The real way to tell if they are truly original is to have the seller slightly lift the leather sweat band a bit and take a picture of the cloth underneath. It should be a mixed fibre type.

I am not sure if this one is original. I think the sweat band looks too nice, there appears to be no imprint from the owner. More high res pics would be most welcome and its also offered from the UK, which is also a red flag to me.

Best regards,

Edwin

One of the spikes is really tarnished on an otherwise pristine helme. Red flag there .

The chinstraps look to be home made.

The parallel lines on the edges of the CS look like they were hand struct .

To my humble opinion these are both fakes
Look at the studs that hold the spikebase to the body
The strap is repro
The seems are not clean and lined up
And they are offered by a fellow from england
I would not go for either one of them

I am going to pass.
I was comparing it to one listed in this forum here:

Thanks for the input.

John :(

I have posted pictures of these in the Pickelhaube discussion section. Title: Cork Hauben. The sell sent these to me in order to get member's opinions.
