I love it when they sell 'damaged' fakes.

They actually do say it's a REPRO Ron.
I guess now the question is: Why would they 'damage' a repro in the first place?? :o

His discription is very honest, and He either is posting a lesson in what is a fake, or he is hoping that buyers will not bother to read the discription.

This seller peddles a lot of these artificially aged helmets, and always with a disclaimer. Luckily, they aren't very accurate copies.

If he is selling a lot of them, then he must be counting of a few people not reading the discripting, I have seen photographs of items for sale with a resonalble buy it now price for the real thiing, and in the heat of the moment, people lay out big money for crap that is discribed accuratly in the listing, and they have no recourse. One should always read the whole discription, and if it is in a language that you do not understan, it whould be reliably translated.

Many of the people who buy these things probably feel they don't have the money to buy an original helmet in good condition. Ironically, the sellers of replicas probably use their profits to buy originals.

I still don't get people who knowingly buy replicas... No matter how good these can be, they would always lack the main thing: CHARACTER.
I believe it should be about the story/history behind the artifact and not the artifact itself and I'm sure you all agree otherwise we wouldn't be on this forum.
Besides, there's always affordable oldies, for all budgets.

I can say that there are times when a reproduction my be desirable, I have purchased a few repro items in the past, one was a pair of Italian trousers, so I could display my Italian maniquin with out haveing to get an anatomicly correct manequin. I did find a decent post war M33 trousers shortly after I bought the repros, and they were $25 cheaper than the repros.
I am currently in the process of haveing a reproduction Portugese uniform made to be able to display the Portugese equipment I have.

Well, yes, my point exactly... I guess I didn't come across clearly enough. Right, nothing wrong with the listing, just odd to damage a fake.
