So, what is anyone's opinion on this one...?

I could tell you all the things that are wrong with it but I will just be educating the fakers,
My suggestion is to invest in some good reference books.

Could anyone comment on the authenticity of pearl ring on this one. A picklehaub in my collection has this elongated pearl ring, and I have my suspisions because it wears this style on it's base. John

The spikebase and Trichter look very much like the copies being sold on eBay U.K. Check out the silver solder peeking out below the Perling.

US $1,242.99
 Someone is going to be very sad when that box of dreck arrives.

John,

You'll notice how this pearl ring has mushy detail and stands away from the neck of the helmet? That's the problem. The elongated 'eggs' between the 'darts' aren't the concern as some originals had those as well. If you're truly concerned, post a photo of yours on a thread and I'm sure folks will chime in.

WELCOME to the forum!

Originally a fireman helmet, converted to this....... You can see the typical fireman hook on the inside of the spine.

Wow, Brian... I didn't even know about those. (Always more to learn... and in my case a LOT more! )

Yes a total fabrication, there may be some original parts but this has been put together. The visor trim is too wide as well which again is because it was a fireman helme. No military helme ever had that hook for hanging on the rear spine.
