Early collectors

There was a famous Australian collector during the war, John Hines.
He was called "The Souvenir King", and collected all kinds of German equipment as souvenirs, which he kept or sold to other allied soldiers.
He became so infamous for his looting / collecting that the Kaiser himself put a price on his head, wanting him dead!

Let's not forget the first button collector;

The legend says that the French soldier is asking for a button, but it is refused by the German prisoner.
