Early Preußen Train Officer's Schirmmütze. Dark blue doe-skin wool with blue piping and blue wool band. Officer's Preußen and Reich's Kokarde on correct Imperial pattern flat fibre backing.
Top and undersides are the same blue, no fading. Top has some very minute tracking. One small moth nibble to the top piping as you can see in the photos. Tiny 1800s black Vulcan fibre visor is a little loose on the left side, but the rest is tight. Really nice age crackling to the lacquer.
The sweat band is very nice, light brown leather showing just light wear with no damage. Cream coloured silk lining shows just slight sweat-age from hair, no damage with owner's initials written in pencil. In the top is a very nice manufacturer's stamp from Baden. Below that is a costume company stamp and some staining.
