Ebay Parade plume, original?

Opinions please, is this trichter and parade plume original? Its listed at EU348 which seems pricey, especially considering the risk that the thread may be different to my spike base.

Furthermore, the hair appears very scruffy. Would an application of normal hair conditioner be useful in smoothing out the stringy bits?

Looks all original to me. Part of the originality is the scruffiness of the horse hair. I do not recommend hair conditioner, this will only make it greasy. I have used Woolite for delicate fabrics with success in the past so that is what I would use. Be prepared to lose some hair though and do it in a bath tub...water plus Woolite, comb out the tangles carefully. Let it air dry on its own, do not use a hair dryer. The danger is as you point out, the threading could be completely different from your spike base.

Agree with Brian, looks like a good piece, the threads are always a crap shoot. Price is not out of wack, I have seen these go for $500 or more. I got a really nice silver one with plume at SOS for $450

Thank you for the advice gentlemen. I will consider this purchase carefully and inquire with the seller to see if he can identify the thread size.

The trichter and busch are original. However, they are for an enlisted (other ranks) helmet. They are not correct for an officer helmet.

Thank you for the advice, it's lucky then that I have an OR helmet with removable spike base as well as an Officer's. :D

The seller got back to me claiming he has no way of measuring the thread so in light of the risk of purchasing a $450 fly-swat I am passing on this one...
