Eisenbahn Generals epaulettes ?

KAGGR#1

Well-known member
These are being offer for auction
said to be for a General of the Eisenbahn
# 1 I am not familiar with the metalilic tops ; this is not Prussian muster
the pattern is different
# 2 The " E " cypher (not shown) is without a number maybe Bavarian ?
# 3 If Bavarian they had only 1 Batl the inspector of the Eisenbahn & Telegraph held the rank of Lt. Col
the commander of the Bavarian E B held the rank of Major ; there were 40 officers in the Batl
hard to understand there would be a General ?
I only have the last rang list which also covers Bavaria
nothing else to check
# 4 The red red fabric under the epaulettes to me look like it has been resewn
# 5 the silver tressa tape is very faded E e b.png

Steve,

always the possibility that the owner was formerly a member of the original Prussian Eisenbahn-Regiment which in 1890 then formed Eisenbahn-Regimenter Nr. 1 and 2. The original Eisenbahn-Regiment wore just the letter E as in your epaulette.

Glenn

Steve,

only one officer holding the rank of Oberst commanded the battalion; Friedrich Franck between 1887 and 1893. He was promoted to Generalmajor on 20 July 1896 as a section chief in the inspectorate of the Bavarian engineer corps and fortresses. A possibility?

Regards
Glenn
