Enamel Repair

Does anyone know of a good enamel repair person? I have a chip out of an enamel helmet plate that I would like to have restored.

I don't know of anyone Jim. I would consult with your local jewellers or anyone who deals in antiques. There has to be someone out there with the skills.

What color ?

At one time you were able to get cold enamel paint used to repair ships in enamel sinks and tubs.

I have used this company on the restoration/repair of two rare badges. They are not inexpensive and it is a one year turn around, but you will be hard pressed to find anyone doing their type of work any longer in the US with the exception of some jewelers. Good luck.

You want Rosanna Polizzotto. She's simply the best, very reasonable pricing, and fairly quick turn-around. http://enamelrestoration.com/Home_Page.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Great to have this recommendation. I tried to find somebody here in the UK who could do this type of work, but failed.

Mark,

Thanks very much for this. I sold the piece I would have liked to got repaired, but there is another item I've held back from buying because it needed some repair. This may open up a new opportunity. Both items are British blue cloth officer helmet plates on which the enamel surrounding the central device is partially missing.
