Subject: Samples of spike helmets made of aluminium
The firm “Nuremberg Metal and Lacquering Factory – The Brothers Bing Corporation” in Nuremberg has provided us with a sample of their new helmet made of aluminum which has a field gray finish, making the wear of a helmet cover unnecessary. Aside from a few minor changes, like adding a felt band under the liner, this helmet will be better than other ersatz types since it is lighter and more flexible affording a more comfortable fit. It is also believed that if the wearer is hit in the head by a bullet the formed sheet aluminum helmet body will not splinter as is the case with the tin helmets.
