What is your opinion of this helmet in relation to the price? Moreover, the bidding history looks peculiar to me :-k

I can't read the IR marking too well (it LOOKS like an '88'), but do the corps marks match? Anyway, the bidding does look a bit odd, but maybe somebody who's fluent in French can help there.
If I were to nit-pick, the retainers on the spike brads look thin (could be a manufacturer difference), no cockades (easily replaced) and the helmet is all mushed in on one side in back (condition? Personal call there). Chin strap... yeah, I think the seller mentions that? Also, why no photo of the back of the plate when it was off? I'd have to see photos of the plate, close up. IF the bandeaus were NOT part of the plate, (soldered on) then I think this is a repro plate, since these look to be integral with the plate. Ahhhh.... Questions that I don't have answers to.

Were EM plates different from officer? Enlarge the ebay photo and see if it doesn't look like a single stamping to you. Here's Joe's article on an officer's helmet:

:-k Maybe two people got drawn in to a bidding competition, I once sold an old magazine for 4 times the value ,but the bidders didn’t want to give in to each other ,
in the end … the loser is the winner …when common sense returns.
