If this is a fusilier helmet, are the convex scales likely a post-war addition?
 
Yes obviously, it also seems to be far too long for the helmet.
But anyway, I assumed that only Guard and Grenadier infantry EM helmets would wear chinscales after 1891. Fusiliers should only wear chinstraps; am I wrong?...

Nice Mark I wish I had a copy of the picture! Bruno, I think you are about right. My only reservation would be that there were times when they would get Castle guard duty and I'm not so sure if scales were saved for that or not.
