The seller says: Auf Originalität keine Garantie. This means he will not guaranty the originality of the helmet...
A bit further he writes: Ob echt oder nicht: Dieser Helm ist in solch einer prächtigen Ausführung und Qualität sehr selten und selbst als Repro würde er auch ein Vermögen kosten! This can be translated as: Real or not; this helmet is very rare in such wonderfull condition and quality and will cost a lot of money, even as a repro.
It's indeed a repro, but the seller also says (camouflaged a bit) it is... Anyway it's well made and some attention is needed for the untrained collector... but when he's warned by the seller and still thinks it's original... #-o

The description is deceiving, in the title he calls the helmet very rare (selten), how can a copy be rare?
“Even as a repro it would cost a fortune” can be understood in different ways.

It doesn't look exactly like one of the Dehn helmets. There is a man in Germany who makes them for reenactors, but his name escapes me.

The more experienced collectors can spot a fake from a considerable distance (till now :? )
But this post was meant for those who sometimes ask our opinion on something that doesn’t even remotely look like a pickelhaube.
