Fake?

I really don't know much about these, being more into Pickelhaube rather than Tschapkas, but thought this one was interesting. Is it an original or a fake?

I am no expert on these, but the FAKE one I owned for about a minute years ago, was no where near this nice or well made

Will let other check in here, but I think it has possibilities?

I don't have any tschapkas... maybe it's worth a try. :) But don't let that stop anybody who REALLY wants this. My feelings aren't hurt by being outbid on anything.

Or... maybe I won't. I just remember I need to purchase a new laptop next month. Oh, the curse of collecting. #-o

It even has the interior skullcap piece. \:D/

Hmmm...how to rationalize bidding on it... Christmas, Valentine's Day, birthday, Father's Day, anniversary...

How 'bout "I just want it", or "I need one for the collection"? That works for me!

Hi Guys,

Yes, I'd agree it is real.

I will have to shoot some photos in the next couple of weeks of an incredible tin/metal body example that resides in a museum. It has a removable metal mortarboard, and the shell of the tschapka is also metal. It is for the 1st/3rd Ulan regiment. It also has the chinscales, and the parade hair plume on it. The tschapka is in beautiful condition, and I think everyone will be amazed when I post photos of it in a few weeks. I only wish that I was able to purchase it, but it is not for sale.

All the Best,

Alan

$1,502.00 for the wartime Tschapka. :o

Rare, interesting and tempting-- but saving the funds for a pre-war helmet with Rabatte and plume just seems better. (Rationalize, rationalize...) :-"

I didn't even bid half of that. Poor liner, (but with the skull cap \:D/ \:D/ :P ), bent up, pushed in, but overall nice looking. I thought it would be a good piece since I don't have an Tschapkas yet. But NOT AT THAT PRICE. :-?
