Hi,

I am a new member. I am wanting to see if it would be possible to repair/restore my family Pickelhaube. It belonged to my great grandfather and has been in my family for 102 years. Unfortunately, my cat knocked the helmet off the shelf and cracked the shell. Is this repairable? What is everyone's thoughts. Thank you!

Yes actually an easy fix.
The easiest way is to use thick super glue .

Materials
1. thick super glue with zip kicker (kicker will instantly will set the glue)
2. Dremal or sand paper
3. Black shoe dye.
4. Black shoe polish.

1. Run a bead of the thick super glue in split trying to keep the bead on out side of helmet.
2.Pinch split Together and spritz kicker on glue bead
3. Once glue has dried try to smooth out the join as smooth as possible. Lightly sand if needed. Remember glue out side of helmet.
4. Hit join with shoe dye.
5. Apply shoe polish on area and buff.
6. Apply shoe polish over ALL of the helmet and buff.

Thank you for the help.

Do you have a preferred super glue brand that has the zip kicker?

What shoe dye brand and shoe polish brand do you recommend?

I use super glue ( CA glue) that I get from my local hobby shop.
All I have ever seen is Kiwi shoe dye and polish.
