This is incredibly uncommon. Found it on eBay for dirt cheap.

This even has a nice dent in the ball. someone around here had one of these helmets.

Hey, is that a dent in the kugel? I would have thought dented equipment would have been highly frowned upon.

Mike you made me think about this one. This looks like an issued piece and the NCO in charge of the Kammer had specific guidance about how long to keep items -- and what garniter rating he could issue. And then there was the Prussian tradition to make money on uniforms and equipment. But what happened if let's say that thing got damaged yesterday? Do you turn it in? Do you get a new one? Do you have to pay? Good question -- little question -- but good question.
