Fishing Private Message

Hi All,

I received a private message with a link to who knows what from a member that doesn't have any posts. As far as I can see, it's a fishing link or worse.

Best regards,

Lars

In another Forum Members have to spend a few Euros before somebody can post something or use pm‘s. Maybe this can be a tactic to avoid spammers and hackertools. If someone is seriously interested in Pickelhaubes, he won‘t get past this forum and will pay a Dollar with pleasure to ask our Specialist about their opinions.

Here is the response from our tech support:
Hi Brian

I’ve just changed the settings on the forum so that users can’t send private messages until they’ve made at least 10 public posts. Something else we can do if you want is set it up so new users have to have their posts manually approved by an admin before they go live - might be worth considering.

I have responded to Joel asking him to go ahead and change the site settings so that I have to manually activate all new members. I have no problem taking on this responsibility. In addition, my thanks to Tony S. for spending his valuable time eliminating spam while sipping his morning coffee every day. I lucked out when we established a friendship 30+ years ago. Thanks T. :thumb up:

Glad to hear about the changes!

On that note, you might want to check out a new member called "Turbotug" and his posts.

Over the weeks i've noticed some posting that don't quite fit the topic. They appear to be answering some other post. Almost as though they were crossed posted from another board. The one common factor with these post is the location of the poster, Qatar.

I will check into this “member” and probably remove them. Tech support has now made the change to the site so that all new members will have to be manually activated by me. Hopefully, this will end the spam attacks. I appreciate the patience shown by members during the time we have struggled with trying to deal with this. Please Inform me of any further suspicious posts here on the site.

Removed and account deactivated. None of his posts were relevant to the topic being discussed.
