French 1st Empire Officer's Shako

This is an item from my father's collection. I'm planning on having Herman Historica auction it in their Fall 2017 auction. Before shipping the piece out, however, I thought I'd offer it here for below the estimated value. This makes sense because I can avoid paying auction fees if I sell directly. Here's the evaluation from HH's expert:

“Considering the details of the shako shots, I think it's good quality, the interior is fine, as well as the manufacturer's label.
I think that the cockade had to be tricolor, but the wear and the dust have made part of the colors disappear.Only note, the button of cockade which is not to the number of the regiment, but it is not serious. So it's a good piece, you may be able to hope for a little more than 10 to 12 000 €, even if at this moment, in France, the Empire does not sell more easily.”

You know I love the Napoleonic stuff.

It looks like a good piece from the photos, but as for me, it's too bad it's French.
Good luck!

That piece is in amazing condition. I have never seen a 1st Empire shako before let alone, an officer's. Good luck!

Thanks! Even if nobody among the pickelhaubes crowd wants to buy it (not a pickelhaube after all), it's still a cool thing to look at, no? My father always wanted a Napoleonic piece for his collection and this was his last major purchase before he more or less retired from the hobby. It was the center piece.

The shako is no longer available here. I've sent it to Herman Historica where it will be auctioned in this fall.

Thanks for the flattering comments. This was a favorite piece of my father's. It was hard to send it away.
