French Adrian M15 with a little something

Dear All,

I have had this French Adrian for a while.

A straight M15 artillery Adrian with a typical rough dark blue paint hand applied. The interior reveals some interesting features with some thick padding stuffed by the owner between the shell and the leather liner to absorb shocks when the helmet was worn. I know that newspapers was also often used, here the material used seems to be similar to matress padding.

Again, all comments are welcome.

Very best to you All

Alex

Hello.

You can also find this kind of padding in some ersatz steel spiked helmets.

Was it for the shocks or for the cold?

Regards.

nice helmet. I wonder if the padding was for a simple as comfort? Most of the helmet's of this period have only so much adjustment.
Nice helmet
