In the French news two days ago was the announcement that the skeleton of a French soldier has been unearthed on the Verdun battlefield. This may not sound as an exceptional discovery, but what makes it special is that the skeleton was complete and intact (except for the skull), and with it were the helmet, belt, bayonet, cartridge pouches, soles, watch and pens. Unfortunately the ID plate could not be found. These remnants have been placed in a coffin and will be given a decent burial in a military cemetery.
Very moving.
