Look at that mark -- more funny looking numbers like the weapons guy's.

Saxon? Reserve regiment? Is this new? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Interesting? In Jeff Noll's book there is a s.R.R. which he has as Recruiting depot of heavy calvary, but this is one R. short of this Helm.??

So my guess it the last R. is for reserve:

so we ahve Recruiting Depot of Heavy calvary for Reserve.

Just my opinion.

Nice helmet, to bad the liner is gone to time.

Well Joe, I got curious so I went and looked my brothers earlier 7th Kurrassier helmet (yes I still have his helmets) and it has the exact same markings!

We have this Mark from an older Saxon cavalry helmet

That one makes sense to me. Schwere Reiter Regiment. 1873.

But was using Jeff's excellent book is that my understanding is that weapons marks and Bekleidungsamt marks were widely different and organized by two diverse groups.

We also have this Mark, again Saxon

These reserve organizations did not exist until after mobilization. So if the organization you thought it might be really did exist then this helmet was marked after mobilization. I don't really know -- I appreciate your ideas!
