If the holes for the Garde plate aren't too bad to repair, maybe the helmet could be restored to the Saxon 100th. :-k

This is the second time I've seen a non-detachable steel spike. Maybe it's a variant unique to a single firm.

Many years ago I had a Baden helmet with a steel non removable spike. Until this helmet it was the only one I had seen. Anyone have any info one these spikes? I know Bannerman listed these in their catalog in the 1920's, so they have been around for a while.
