Garde Kurassier Stein

An interesting variation on regimental steins is the Mettlach model 2140 stein. These earthenware PUG (print under glaze) steins feature a nicely executed print concerning a specific unit. The stein shown below is from the Garde Kurassier Regiment and was made in 1895. The lid is a well detailed guard star. Unlike the more typical regimental steins 2140s do not have rosters and are seldom named to an individual.

Well, I guess there is no doubt when you see that lid. Very nice as always R1. I am still looking for a shoulder strap for this Regt. I have two, but they are being used.....
